PET/CT Findings There are at least three hypermetabolic nodules within the lateral segment of the left lobe of the liver with the largest mass measuring 2 centimeters. Mild metabolic activity is seen along the right region of the pancreatic head. Also noted laterally within the upper abdomen at the lateral aspect of the mesentery an area of focal intermediate activity measuring in the 2-centimeter range. There is diffuse activity involving the cecum, which could be physiologic, however, bowel activity in the location is increased when compared to the remainder of the bowel. A small area of activity is noted laterally within the pelvis at the level of the acetabulum. There is fluid seen within the pelvis. The appearance of the lungs on the CT images is abnormal with diffused interstitial changes with small nodules present. There are some areas of mile activity seen within the lungs, however, not focal intense nodule is demonstrated. This may be due to the size of the nodules within the lungs. No abnormal activity is demonstrated within the neck. Impression Abnormal metabolic activity within the left lobe of the liver consistent with neoplastic disease. Findings which suggest the presence of peritoneal neoplastic disease including activity along the surface of the liver and adjacent of the pancreas, in the lateral aspect of the upper abdomen, and within the left aspect of the pelvis as well as the presence of a small amount of pelvic fluid,. Activity involving the cecum, which could be physiologic. However further evaluation might be considered due to the focal activity in the location compared to the remainder of the bowel. Abnormal check CT with findings worrisome for metastatic disease. However no focal activity is seen at this time, which may be related to the size of the pulmonary nodules.
