Ovarian Cancer - 58-year-old female





History
A 58-year-old female with a history of ovarian carcinoma, diagnosed in May, 1997. At that time, the patient had a total hysterectomy and chemotherapy. The patient had recurrent disease diagnosed in 2000 with subsequent chemotherapy, ending in November, 2000.

CT Findings
CT scan of the abdomen on 12/04/01 showed an elongated area of soft tissue density lateral to the abdominal aorta. This mass is unchanged from a previous CT dated 9/10/01. PET scan this date is requested for restaging.

PET Findings
Initial PET scan : Markedly FDG-avid left pariaortic retroperitoneal lymph nodes, compatible with metastatic retroperitoneal lymphadenopathy.

Follow-up PET scan 05/20/02: Patient has been undergoing radiation therapy to the abdomen and pelvis and chemotherapy. All treatments were completed in April, 2002.

The current PET scan (image shown above) is requested for follow-up and restaging. Marked interval improvement in the patient’s metastatic retroperitoneal lymphadenopathy.
