53-year-old female
History
A 53-year-old female with a history of melanoma that was excised from her forearm.
Original Diagnosis
Three years post excision, a chest x-ray showed a mass in the upper lobe of her left lung. The CT scan of the chest confirmed the mass, which was approximately 1.5 cm in diameter. At this time the patient was scheduled for an upper lobe thoracotomy pending the results of the PET scan.
PET Findings
The FDG PET scan was read as negative. Upon further research the patient reported having TB at age 14 and the mass was determined to be fibrotic scarring.
