Lung Cancer - 58-year-old male

History
A 58-year-old male with a history of a left upper lobe lung mass.

CT Findings
CT Chest dated 8/21/01. Right hilar adenopathy and a left upper lobe lung lesion concerning for primary lung carcinoma. CT guided lung biopsy of left lung nodule on 8/30/01 shows non-small cell carcinoma.

PET Findings
PET scan 9/24/01: This study was requested for staging. Abnormal FDG uptake in the pathologically proven non-small cell lung carcinoma in the left upper lobe. Metastatic adenopathy is present in the right hilum. Abnormal FDG accumulation in the inferolateral aspect of the right hemithorax which most likely represents a pleural metastasis with probable chest wall/rib invasion. PET scan 01/02/02: Marked improvement in the appearance of the primary lesion in the left upper lobe. More specifically, it is much smaller and much less intense. Metastates in the right hilum, as well as the right pleura or chest wall have virtually resolved.
