Lung Cancer - 64-year-old male

History
64-year-old male with a long history of tobacco use. Endobronchial biopsies of the right main stem bronchus demonstrated poorly differentiated non-small cell carcinoma. CT of the chest demonstrated right upper lobe atelectasis. The bronchus intermedius was irregular suggesting invasion with tumor. CT of the abdomen with contrast showed multiple areas of hyper-densities in the liver, consistent with metastatic disease. PET scan was ordered to stage non-small cell lung carcinoma.

PET Findings
There is a large curved linear mass just above the right hilum consistent with a malignancy. It measures approximately 2 x 3 x 4 cm. In addition, there is intense 2 cm uptake in the right paratracheal space, just above the primary mass. Mild diffuse uptake in the right upper lobe represents atelectatic lung. The left lung is clear. The neck, abdomen, and pelvis are within normal limits.
