Case #2
Kidney and Bladder Cancer -
49-year-old male
History
A 49-year-old male with renal cell carcinoma, status post right nephrectomy in 1993. Recently developed a right pleural effusion. Thoracentesis in 7/02 showed metastatic renal cell carcinoma. PET requested for restaging.
PET Findings
Diffuse pleural hypermetabolic activity on the right, consistent with metastatic disease to right pleura. Focal, intense hypermetabolic activity within an enlarged left adrenal mass, consistent with metastatic disease to the left adrenal gland.
