Case #1
Head and Neck Cancer -
59-year-old female
History
A 59-year-old female with a history of squamous cell carcinoma. Post radiation and chemo therapy treatment with no surgery.
MRI Findings
Extensive soft tissue signal abnormality noted in the right nasopharyngeal region, more on the right versus the left. Questionable residual tumor or post-treatment changes. Close follow up is suggested.
PET Findings
Large malignant hypermetabolic activity in the posterior nasopharynx, right side greater than left. Hypermetabolic activity in the floor of the mouth, consistent with recurrent tumor.
Dosage
15.1 mCi FDG
Imaging
ECAT EXACT
Change in treatment plan
The PET findings suggested that the ongoing treatment plan was ineffective. A new high-dose radiation treatment plan was implemented post-PET.
