Esophageal Cancer - 60-year-old female





History
A 60-year-old female with a history of distal esophageal cancer and severe esophagitis. Recent endoscopy show severe esophagitis. Biopsies performed during endoscopy were negative for malignancy.

CT Findings
Enlarging middle mediastinal mass noted as paraesophageal lymphadenopathy. PET scan order for re-staging of the esophageal cancer post-chemo therapy and radiation therapy.

PET Findings
Hypermetabolic mass in the upper mediastinum corresponding to soft tissue mass noted on the CT.Conglomerate mass of metastatic lymph adenopathy. Diffuse moderate to markedly increased uptake in the thoracic esophagus - esophagitis. Small focus of increased uptake over the left glenohumeral joint, arthritic or post-traumatic in etiology. Increased uptake in the soft tissue of both hips at the site of the greater trochanters, bursitis.
