Breast Cancer - 44-year-old female

/

History
A 44-year-old female complained of right breast fullness and slight discomfort from an axillary nodule for several months. Mammogram Findings: An initial mammogram was performed and called negative. Over the course of the next 6 months, another 2 mammograms were performed; both were negative. Needle Biopsy Findings: A fine needle biopsy of the axillary node was finally performed which demonstrated poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. An ultrasound guided biopsy of an 8mm breast nodule was negative.

PET Findings
PET scan 12/2001: PET reveals extensive cancer and patient begins chemotherapy. PET scan 4/2002: Four months later the patient returns for a follow-up PET scan, after completing 4 cycles of chemotherapy. The PET study shows that the tumor has responded to the chemotherapy.
