Breast Cancer - 71-year old female

History
A 71-year old female diagnosed with breast CA in 1997. Pt had a left mastectomy followed by chemotherapy tx. Lab work shows pt to now have a rising CEA level.

CT Findings
CT performed, results were negative showing no evidence of metastatic disease.

PET Findings
PET scan showed two areas of increased metabolic activity consistent with metastatic breast cancer. Metabolic foci was seen within the left lobe of the liver with a second area juxtaposed measuring 4-5mm. PET was able to detect metastatic disease when no other imaging modality could. The pt was able to begin tx immediately instead of waiting until another diagnostic scan could detect the disease.

MRI Findings
MRI results were negative showing no evidence of metastatic disease. Pt referred for PET scan for restaging of breast CA.
