Case #10
Breast Cancer -
61-year-old female
History
A 61-year-old female with breast cancer diagnosed in Nov. 1998. She underwent a right mastectomy in 1998, followed by right axillary node dissection which showed 1 positive lymph node. She also had a left mastectomy and received radiation therapy in 1999. The patient is currently receiving chemotherapy. A new hepatic mass was diagnosed on a recent CT scan. PET requested for evaluating extent of disease.
PET Findings
The low-density lesion seen on the recent CT in the right hepatic lobe is intensely hypermetabolic, indicating that is malignant. A single, moderately intense focus is seen in the posterior right upper chest. This is not identified on the recent CT, but is felt suspicious for a right upper rib osseous metastasis.
